Hrithik Roshan Comes Out In Support Of Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana Amid VFX Backlash

Hrithik Roshan Backs Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana Amid VFX Backlash

Just when social media began dissecting the teaser of Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana, an unexpected voice stepped in. Hrithik Roshan. And what made his reaction stand out was not just his support for the film, but the fact that he also openly admitted flaws in his own upcoming project, War 2.

Ranbir Kapoor’s look as Lord Ram received a largely warm response. But the visual effects quickly became the talking point online. Considering the film’s reported scale and massive budget, audiences expected something visually spectacular. Instead, the teaser triggered debates, comparisons and criticism within hours.

Hrithik Roshan responded with a thoughtful post addressing the conversation around visual effects. He acknowledged that poor VFX can break immersion instantly. Even small inconsistencies in physics or movement, he explained, can make audiences disengage from the story.

At the same time, he suggested that viewers often confuse style with quality. According to him, not every film aims for photorealism. Some stories deliberately choose a stylised or storybook aesthetic. Judging them purely on realism, he implied, may not always be fair.

His take shifted the conversation from outright criticism to understanding creative intent.

A Childhood Story That Explains His Passion

Hrithik also shared a personal memory that revealed why visual effects matter so much to him.

He recalled watching Back to the Future at the age of eleven and becoming fascinated with special effects. He spent hours studying frames on a VHS player, eventually breaking it.

He even ordered a book on visual effects using his pocket money and waited months for it to arrive. That early obsession, he said, shaped his love for ambitious cinematic storytelling and filmmakers willing to experiment.

    Hrithik Praises Ambitious Indian Filmmakers

While defending Ramayana, Hrithik also praised large scale Indian films like Baahubali and Kalki. He described such filmmakers as people with the courage to attempt something never done before.

According to him, these projects involve years of effort, huge investments and creative risks. Even if the results are not perfect, the ambition itself deserves recognition.

His comments were seen as a clear show of support for Ranbir Kapoor and the Ramayana team.

Hrithik Roshan Admits War 2 Had Issues

The conversation became even more interesting in the comments section. A fan asked whether Hrithik was indirectly defending War 2 as well. Instead of avoiding the topic, Hrithik addressed it directly.

He admitted that War 2 had some physics and gravity related issues and that time constraints played a role. At the same time, he maintained that the first War film delivered strong visuals.

It was a rare moment of honesty from a mainstream Bollywood star. Publicly acknowledging flaws in a big budget film is not something actors usually do.

Ramayana Remains One Of The Most Ambitious Films

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana is one of the most ambitious Indian films currently in production. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman.

The first part is expected to release during Diwali, while the second part is planned for 2027.

Whether the film lives up to expectations remains to be seen.

But Hrithik Roshan stepping in has certainly shifted the narrative. What started as a VFX backlash has now turned into a larger conversation about ambition, scale and evolving expectations from Indian cinema.
