The Traitors 2 Full Cast: All 21 Names And Premiere Date — Ott on Bollybakar

The masks are back on. The Traitors Season 2, hosted by Karan Johar, premieres on Amazon Prime Video on August 13, with new episodes dropping every Thursday. India's take on the Dutch format De Verraders returns with a bigger, buzzier line-up than its first season, which was won by Uorfi Javed and poker pro Nikita Luther after they exposed final Traitor Harsh Gujral.

This time Prime Video has assembled 21 contestants — and that number hides the real story. Look past the names and this stops looking like "celebrities in a palace" and starts looking like a targeting exercise, with each contestant cast to pull in a very specific slice of India's streaming audience.

The season was shot earlier this year at Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer — the same kind of sprawling, candle-lit Rajasthani setting that made Season 1 look far more expensive than most Indian reality TV.

It is not just casting — it is audience segmentation

Here is the angle most of the coverage is missing. This cast is not built for one type of viewer. It is built to poach viewers from at least five different fandoms at once and stitch them into a single Thursday-night watch party.

    1. The Gen-Z YouTube army: Abhishek Malhan

The one name here that is not a Bollywood name at all is Abhishek Malhan, better known as Fukra Insaan — and that is exactly the point. He arrives with a YouTube subscriber base past the 10-million mark, built on vlogs, reactions and challenge videos aimed at a young, digital-first crowd. He is already reality-tested as the Bigg Boss OTT 2 runner-up, and he comes from India's most recognisable YouTube dynasty; his brother Nischay, aka Triggered Insaan, sits north of 20 million subscribers.

For Prime Video, that is not a coincidence. Malhan is the bridge to an audience that does not watch traditional television but will show up for a creator they already follow daily.

    2. The controversy economy: Munawar Faruqui and Rhea Chakraborty

Two names guarantee headlines before a single episode airs. Munawar Faruqui walks in with a résumé most reality contestants would kill for — two major trophies, Lock Upp and Bigg Boss 17 — plus a history of controversy around his stand-up that has kept him trending for years.

Rhea Chakraborty's casting is the boldest call of the season. She has done reality TV before as a Roadies gang leader, but her name has been inseparable from one of the most-litigated media storms Bollywood has seen this decade. Casting her is a bet that curiosity about how she handles scrutiny — and how her fellow players treat her — will drive conversation regardless of how viewers feel about her personally. If that pattern sounds familiar, it is the same machinery we traced in Bollywood scandals that shook the industry.

    3. Bollywood nostalgia: Mallika Sherawat

Mallika Sherawat, known for Murder and Welcome, is making her reality show debut here. She is bold, unfiltered and genuinely unpredictable — useful in a game built on suspicion. Her casting also pulls in a slightly older, 2000s-Bollywood-raised audience that rarely sees her on reality television.

    4. TV loyalists: Shweta Tiwari, Krystle D'Souza, Sahil Salathia

Television still commands India's most habitual audience, and this cast does not ignore it. Shweta Tiwari's Bigg Boss 4 win keeps her embedded in that ecosystem, while Krystle D'Souza brings a much more current hook after her Dhurandhar dance number went viral.

    5. Niche crossover pulls: Ranveer Brar, Shehneel Gill, Karan Singh Magic

The rest reads like a checklist of adjacent fandoms. Ranveer Brar brings the MasterChef India food audience. Shehneel Gill, sister of cricketer Shubman Gill, is a direct line to cricket-adjacent social media. Karan Singh Magic, a mentalist, adds novelty to a show literally about reading people.

Why this matters more than the names

Season 1 leaned on a familiar mix of reality regulars. Season 2 casts across YouTube, Bollywood, television, cricket-adjacent influence, food content and news-cycle controversy at the same time. It is less "who is the biggest star" and more "which fanbase have we not captured yet." It is the same lock-them-in logic we broke down in why every new Indian reality show has you locked up, only applied to casting instead of format.

Whether it works comes down to gameplay. But the casting alone guarantees that several very different corners of the internet will be arguing about The Traitors 2 for entirely different reasons — exactly what a platform juggling Bollywood loyalists and YouTube-first Gen Z viewers needs.
